WHAT IS NERDY COLLECTIVE ACADEMY?
Do you want to make a career out of your artwork but not really sure where to start? Nerdy Collective Academy is here to help you figure out everything you need to know about freelancing including:
Creating an online website to sell your work.
How to use networking to promote sales.
How to set up your finances.
How to establish yourself as a business.
We are currently accepting applications from young artists in the state of North Carolina for our residency program. You will be able to sell your designs in a special collection with Nerdy Collective as you attend the Academy and figure out how to go into business for yourself! It's a great way to learn about freelancing with a strong support system.
HOW DO I APPLY?
We are accepting applications from young artists (ages 25 and under) with a portfolio of at least three digital designs that could be transferred to a t-shirt (.png or .jpg files preferred). Please create designs that are inspired by pop-culture and would go with the theme of the website. If you are selected to move forward we will send paperwork for you to fill out to complete the enrollment process. If you are selected for the Residency program, you will attend Nerdy Collective Academy for FREE!
CAN I ENROLL IN THE ACADEMY WITHOUT SELLING ART ON NERDY COLLECTIVE?
Yes! If you do not meet the age requirement or do not have artwork that you'd like to sell, we realize there still may be interest in learning the process of opening a self-employed business. If this is you, please fill out the same application and select "Non-Resident" option.
Non-Resident students will be charged tuition. Please note that this program provides information specific to the state of North Carolina. While some of it is still practical no matter where you live, the process of establishing a business may vary from state to state.
Tuition is $300.00 per student. If you are interested in discounted rates for a school or school district, please visit the "Contact Us" page for a quote.
HOW DO I COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE ACADEMY?
You will receive assignments to complete independently but also will participate in Zoom sessions with Stephanie Van Hassel (owner of Nerdy Collective) to help you set goals and monitor your progress. When you complete all of the assignments in Nerdy Collective Academy, you will receive a certificate of completion! However, the mentoring doesn't stop there. Stephanie is available to support your dreams for the rest of her life! Ongoing support like this is priceless!
DATES AND DEADLINES
For our very first cohort of students, the application deadline will be June 4, 2021 at midnight (EST).
NERDY COLLECTIVE ACADEMY DATES
The independent coursework will be available on August 1, 2021 (possibly sooner if time allows). The Zoom meetings with Stephanie will begin on the first week of August. The dates of the meetings will be determined by the availability of the students enrolled.
